    the memory map is a MINOR problem.  the REAL problem is the motherboard.
if it only has address lines for 512K, it doesn't matter that the address
space is available -- you can't reach it.  the current custom chips seem to
use ALL their pins, and dedicate only 9 for RAM addressing (i assume it's
doing its own row and column addressing?).  unless they free up some other
pins, or double up functions, neither of which would be backward-compatible,
they'll have to ADD a pin on the new chipset, so they won't even fit in the
same sockets.
