Well, are you sure you are using fixobj right?  Fixobj produces 1 byte length
files when anything you are working with is in ram:
Try it on your disk only.  You might want to use a plain vanilla null modem
cable instead of whatever you are using now (what's digital link?)
I just plain download everything to my Amiga.  I don't know anything about the
Mac file system so maybe you should look into that.  There might be some
inconsistencies between the filesystems (like icons especially!)  If you are
using just a cable, you might not need a fancy protocol for sources so you
can just type the text.  Like I say, I don't know much about the Mac
filesystem so you had better check on just how much the Mac sends with its
files.  Hope this is of some use to you.
