Most intriguing is the mention of an impending ROM module to be available Fall 1986. It is to contain "over 6Mb. of UNIX commands & utilities, shells, C compiler & debugger, text processing & communications capabilities." Can any of you HP folk tell us what is to be included - is it the same as "HP-UX Tools" plus the C compiler? Does the ROM module replace the present ROM plug-in unit (which contains the kernel and another slot) or does it go in the empty slot (which is not empty if the BASIC ROM is there already)? How do you manage bug fixes for ROM-based software? Any word on a release date? $$$How much?$$$ Does anyone have any pros & cons to contribute on whether this is a good place to keep UNIX?
