To be more specific it needs to run an application > There is a company called Wendin (Box 266, Cheney, WA 99004) that has a product called Operating Systems Toolbox that can be used to create your own multi-user/multi-tasking programs for PC-DOS. It includes good documentation as well as source code (Microsoft C) for the utilities. Wendin also makes two OS shells for PC-DOS... one called PCUNIX and another called PCVMS. As the names indicate, these shells give you "unixlike" and "vmslike" operating environments complete with multi-user/multi-tasking capabilities. These packages are $99 each. In all cases PC-DOS file formats are used, and many "well behaved" PC-DOS programs run in these environments.
