  My mother (and, to a lesser extent, myself) is researching our
ancestors.  She's seen the following last names and wondered how
many other people have researched them and whether anyone has any
such info on computers somewhere.  Since all four of my grandparents
have ancestors that have been in the U.S. since before 1750 or so,
it's a rather long list.  The list of states is also rather long
(and these are just off the top of my head !!): North Carolina, Ohio,
California, Indiana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Illinois,
New York, and Vermont.
  The list of names follows.  Since nearly all of them have been seen
with several spellings, phonetic methods are definitely appropriate.
As an example, take my last name:  Edgington.  We've seen it spelled :

Edgington	Edington	Eddington	Ejaton
Edgerington	Edgerton	Edginton	Edrington

(and since I've only met one person who spelled it right the first
time, I'm not surprised how many spellings there are !!)  Look in
just about any phone book for more variations.  The other last names
are :

Kendall		Chance		Black		Kirkland
Dubois		Short		Shorter		Shorten
Fulse		Fuls		Rainsburg	Hoppe
Crancy		Logan		Mullins		North
Siegel		Fleece		Maxwell		Coniff
Rogers		Bailey		Flynn		Flinn
Kerns		Williams	Haller

Any info would be appreciated; I also see nothing against trading
info with other people interested.  Unfortunately, the vast majority
of our info is in California with my parents; they don't have access
to USENET (or even a computer !!).
