According to a description I read, they have most of the available RI records and and 12,000 volumes of various genealogies. They also supposedly have the Arnold collection which at the time it was donated (1920) was the best collection of Rhode Island genealogy material anywhere. The description I read (which might have been out of date) indicated that there was no charge to use the library, ie no membership fee or no visiting fee and that they did research by mail for a fee. Anyone have any experience with them?
