This even seems to have worked its way into law, or at least into the courts. The Supreme Court opinion on sodomy laws, if I am not mistaken, referred to the idea that this laws would eventually mean the end of human existance. Admittedly, the connection hear is tenuous, and I may not even be considering the correct nation -- this may have been the opinion of a Belgic justice.
