I have one modem, which I want to use for dialin as well as dialout - during the day I use 'tip' to connect to some other systems, at night I'd like to be able to phone up my system from outside. The problem is this: in order to us tip , I need to kill the 'getty' process running on the dialin line, and to modify the file '/etc/ttys' to prevent init from starting a new getty. Then when I want to enable dialin again, I have to change '/etc/ttys' again. Needless to say, this seems like a real pain for what should be rather simple. Does anyone know a better way to allow both dialing in and dialing out? Mark Saaltink, I. P. Sharp Assoc. ARPA: Saaltink@dockmaster
