Lines: 25 Keywords: /dev/fd pseudo-device drivers Xref: mnetor net.wanted.sources:2248 net.unix-wizards:7791 Does anyone still have the pseudo-device driver posted about a year ago that allowed one to create devices that when opened just returned a dup of the descriptor corresponding to the minor device number? This allows you to create devices like /dev/stdin, /dev/stdout, and /dev/stderr so that programs that usually take a just a filename as an input or output argument can be redirected. The target is a vax running Ultrix 1.2. And yes we have sources already. Please do not post the sources or any me-too's; mail to me and I'll act as a clearinghouse. Also, I'd be interested in hearing any comments that people have (esp. if anyone archived the discussion). Again, please mail. Many thanks, Jim Fulton Cognition Inc.
