Whenever another modem con- > nects with it, it sends a "CONNECT" message to the port. Hayes compatible modems don't like their status commands echoed back to themselves. They hang up. Uugetty echo's the connect and ring strings back to the Hayes, and it gets confused and gives up. To make Hayes compatibles work on my 3b2 with dial in/out and uugetty, I built a black box that uses a couple of one shots that trigger on CD changing. Then set the hayes (and Dialers) for no call progress monitoring. Been working fine for a year. I would be interested in anyone who was able to get a 3b2 to dial in/out on one line with only software patches. I tend to fix software problems with hardware. PS. Has anyone heard the rumors that AT&T now has a way to expand a 3b2/300 to more than 2 hard disks? Any prices? Thanks. -- .. that's the biz, sweetheart...
