hi all you 2.9 fans out there!

i just got my copy of improved 2.9 from seismo a few days ago, 
and i wanted to get some comments from those of you who are running 
ethernet utilities on it before i jumped into the fire.

any preferred vendors for ethernet boards?  how does it run, well or
badly?  any quirks or idiosyncracies to be aware of?
