What do people do with their school-age children in the summer when both
parents are employed outside the home?  Our two girls aren't there yet,
but one will be soon and we have started to wonder.

I am aware of the myriad summer and day camp options available, but these
usually last only a short while (1-2 weeks).  However, I would be interested
if anyone has made this type of thing work for them satisfactorily.

We have friends who have gotten an older child to stay with their daughter;
this worked out very well for them, but the older girl was a friend of the
family and was readily available.  I suppose one could advertise for college
students, but could they provide references or whatever?  Are there other
services like this that already exist?

Any advice or experiences on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
