When it first was announced, it was called Portable DECnet, but I guess DEC made them change the name. The current literature says that it is portable to any OS, and they have implemented it on 68K, 80186 and PC systems running DOS, 4.2BSD, and UNIX sV. The early announcements (3/85) that I saw claimed that it ran on VRTX and pSOS, but these are no longer mentioned in later literature. I believe that the DECnet implementation announced recently by Sun is based on this product. Perhaps someone from Sun can give us more details. -- David Brown (415) 945-2199 Varian Instruments 2700 Mitchell Dr. Walnut Creek, Ca. 94598 {ptsfa,lll-crg,zehntel,dual,amd,fortune,ista,rtech,csi}!varian!david
