We have an LN03 connected to a serial DMF-32 port on our VAX 8600 that we use for both TeX and text output. On the VMS TeX distribution tape (available from Kellerman & Smith) is a program called DVITOLN3 that will convert a TeX .DVI file to LN03 format. The program embeds the TeX fonts into the .LN3 file, so the appropriate fonts are dowloaded at the start of each job. This is inefficient, but doesn't really bother us here because the LN03 is not our primary TeX output device. Also, the price of the software is right (it's free). Once the file has been translated via DVI2LN3, we print it using the standard print symbiont. We have to use the /NOFEED qualifier. Enough TeX fonts are included on the tape to do LaTeX output on the LN03. We haven't gotten around to experimenting with making new fonts for the LN03. -------
