Gutfreund" Subject: Terrain maps X-Vms-To: CSNET%"info-graphics@ads-unix.arpa" Can anyone help me with locating algorithms for displaying and transforming terrain maps. The terrain map is a 2-D array of height values. Operations I need are: 1. Generation of a contour map (ala USGS). 2. Generation of a skeleton map (a side-looking view onto a web of lines). (this may not be the correct terminology). 3. Rubber-Band distance functions: SPREAD: e.g. overlay a road network and re-encode the map in terms of distance to the road. spreadWithObstacles: Same thing only one has water and terrain obsticles of varying difficulties. 4. SLOPE: differentiate the terrain map. - Steven Gutfreund ------------------------------ End of INFO-GRAPHICS ********************
