In VM/SP/CMS's XEDIT is the EXPAND subcommand that expands out the tabs to proper positions. There is also COMPRESS with puts tabs in, and in the proper place. I use these commands to handle files received from non-IBM systems with tabs. Everything has worked out fine. Now I just need a way to get square brackets on my IBM 3178 keyboard.
