I have been doing some work with NEC's uPD7281 and was curious to know if anyone else in net land has used these? They are a powerfull set of chips that have a pipelined dataflow architecture and assembply language. You can connect up to 14 chips together to do parallel computations. We are building an Image Processing coprocessor for a 680XX workstation with them. I am looking for others to discuss design and algorithm issues with.
