As a psychologist, I was particularly offended and suspicious of the above
request in a net.general posting.  If legitimate research is being done,
especially in a somewhat sensitive area, the researcher gives his academic
qualifications and the formal sponsorship of his study.  The posting in
net.general, therefore, roused doubt in my mind about whether or not it was
really research or whether it was some other less savory activity.
