The book I use is "S : An Interactive Environment for Data Analysis
and Graphics", by Richard A. Becker and John M. Chambers, Copywrite 1984.
It's part of the Wadsworth Statistics/Probability Series from Wadsworth
Advanced Book Program in Belmont, CA.

Unfortunately, the phone number given is 1-800-828-UNIX, which probably
doesn't help you.

I use S quite a bit.  The graphics is easy to implement quickly.  I use
a variety of plotters, screens, printers, etc..., all of which are easily
handled by the S drivers.  Hope this helps.
