In my note on execution speeds I appear to have speeded up a VAX11/750
with a factor of 10. Sorry. With 1,000,000 iterations (not a mere 100,000)
I get
	`normal' call	27.5u 0.6s 31r
 	virtual call	36.6u 0.9s 38r
	no call		3.4u 0.1s 4r
