Something I don't recall being discussed (my apologies if it has been) is what happens should you receive a signal on apparatus not designed to receive it, or you receive a harmonic of the signal. Is one liable for operating a deficient receiver, or for hearing a transmission from a defective transmitter? Examples: Intermodulation in a receiver front-end can allow it to receive signals to which it is not tuned. Similarly, images can be readily heard, if the front end doesn't have sufficiently high "Q" tuned circuits. And a local taxi company's 2nd harmonic can be heard quite readily in the middle of the Amateur 2m band around here, blotting out a distant repeater on that frequency (grrrr ...).
