Message-ID: <252@bakerst.UUCP> Date: Tue, 23-Sep-86 04:23:17 EDT Article-I.D.: bakerst.252 Posted: Tue Sep 23 04:23:17 1986 Date-Received: Tue, 23-Sep-86 23:30:06 EDT Organization: bakerst, Winston-Salem, NC Lines: 50 Keywords: keyboard, CRT, missed characters Xref: mnetor net.micro:6108 net.micro.att:1495 Question. I've been noticing some messages lately on net.micro and net.micro.att that remind me of a problem I've been experiencing all too regularly on my machine, and I'm curious to know whether anyone else has been having the same problem. I'll be typing along when I realize that some of the characters I'm typing aren't showing up on the screen. Experimentation has shown that sometimes the characters are being received by the system, sometimes they aren't. In other words, I'll type in a command and only part of it will show up on the screen, but when I , most of the time, the command is executed. It happened the first time about three months ago - right when my machine was in transition betwixt warranty coverage and maintenance contract coverage ... Happened again a bit later. Then happened, like, once a day for a week about two weeks ago. (I don't know about more recent history - I've been out of town for a while.) The first few times, I noted that there had been heavy electrical activity in the area - thunderstorms - immediately prior to the occurrence of the problem. Can't say that's true for all of the later occurrences. If I remember correctly, the similar sort of problems are happening on 3B2s, and someone suggested a kernel flow control problem??? Comments?
