	The AmigaBASIC compiler from AbSoft should be commercially
available very shortly.  At the moment the compiler is either in
preproduction or in production.  The original Microsoft AmigaBASIC
was pretty much written by AbSoft, so they know what they are doing.
People who have used beta test versions of the thing say it is very
good.  AbSoft's FORTRAN 77 compiler is apparently EXCELLENT; not only
has it been known to compile and link 350K of VAX FORTRAN source
without a hitch, but the resulting program ran through EVERY TEST
in the book the FIRST TIME.  AbSoft is a *PROFESSIONAL* company.
Sorry to use so many capitalized words, but I just think a good company
deserves a good rep.  (AbSoft's Fortran is pretty much a Fortran 77 with
many Fortran 8? extensions, including the most popular Vax Fortran
extensions.)
	Note: AmigaBasic is a structured language that supports
named subroutines, local variables in procedures, but does NOT support
recursion.  Future versions of the product may well support recursion.
