Mr. Whiteman's explanation of the statement above was similar to
Pierce Wetter's.

Mr. Whiteman agreed that the chain of postings had lead me to a reasonable
conclusion, and that my posting was not out of any malice.

I feel that my posting was justified in the light of the evidence I had,
but feel also that this retraction is also necessary. My apologies to
David Whiteman.
