Dugal) Organization: USL, Lafayette, LA Lines: 17 I am looking for a good terminal emulator to use with IBM PC clones which communicate with an IBM 7171 protocol converter. The 7171 can be programmed to work with a number of ASYNC terminals, and makes them look like 3278's to the mainframe. It should be possible to program both the PC and the 7171 so as to achieve a good use of the PC keyboard as an emulated 3278 keyboard. I plan to do this unless it's already been done. Note that VT100 emulators (among other terminal types) DO work, but typing the necessary ESC, shift and ALT sequences becomes confusing. This is especially so since two levels of interpretation are involved: making the PC into a VT100 (for example) and then making a VT100 into a 3278. Any hints and pointers to the desired software would be appreciated! I am aware of the IRMA-type cards for PCs, but I need and want an ASYNC solution. -- -- James Dugal USENET: ...{ut-sally|akgua}!usl!jpd Associate Director CSNet: DugalJP%usl.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa USL Computing Center DOMAIN: jpd@usl.edu Tel. 318+231-6417 US Mail: PO Box 42770 Lafayette, LA 70504
