I have used the IBM3101 Emulation package for this purpose and have found
it extremely flexible.  One can redefine the keys to suit your purpose.
In addition, the 7171 comes with a "stock" configuration for the 3101.
We are currently looking at Procomm 2.3 which also allows keyboard
mapping and can emulate the 3101, VT100, and a host of others.
