I did this for two reasons: 1. I was too cheap to buy a color monitor and too cheap to buy (and too stupid to build) a RF box to generate a signal for my color TV, and I already owned a VCR. 2. I wanted to record the graphic output of a video game I was building, for copyright purposes. Of course, this isn't exactly what was requested (RGB) but it can easily be used.
