During Passover the use of certain food products is restricted, although these same products may be permissible during the remainder of the year. Due to one of customs that developed in certain communities centuries ago corn is not used, despite the fact that it is not technically prohibited by biblical tradition. Hence, there are many families who will not buy a product that contains corn syrup or similar ingredients for consumption during the Passover holiday. -- Harlan B.
