I second both motions. I used to live in a town where a substantial fraction of the population lived "on the dole". At the time, the economy was rather depressed, so the scarcity of jobs mitigated the problem greatly. However, when I visit there now, with the local economy booming, I still see the same people in the same projects, on the same welfare, "help wanted" signs notwithstanding. (BTW, this is in a part of the country where one *can* live on minimum wage. At one point, my friends said I was crazy for spending $310/month for a one-bedroom apartment.)
