I notice that most of the software support (e.g. ditroff, TeX) are for Imagens. However, the HP laserjet+ is much cheaper, and clones are cheaper still. Just what does the extra ~4K buy you (besides 3X the RAM)? Any other reccommendations/warnings? We will be using it mostly like a line printer, but occassionally we write fairly large documents using {n,t,di}troff, and we are also considering using TeX. I have heard some frightening things about laserjet+'s used with ditroff. In particular a friend of ours using someones ditroff for the laserjet says it creates a bit image file for the entire document because the laserjet usually can't hold all the font changes. He describes some real headaches with this. How about it? I am in favor of the Imagen, others here like the laserjets and no one can argue with the fact that it is cheaper. Another fellow suggests we should get a postscript printer. I feel postscript is not being very widely embraced by the industry. Is Imagen the way to go? Do the drawbacks of the laserjet+ outweigh the price? What is the likelihood of being able to find (preferably public domain) ditroff or TeX drivers? (I already have Imagen drivers for both.) I am undoubtedly not considering all the printers I should be. What others should I be considering (in the < 10K range and better still in the ~5K range).
