    Hold  on  thar, it ain't  the dog's  fault.  But I  understand the
temptation - the next-door neighbors have a barker - your basic  fero-
cious watchdog, tethered outside their house all day.
    (I thought of putting the dog out of my misery, but...  Besides, I
dig petting the beast - he's  pathetically grateful for the attention,
and I like to see the owner shit  when  he sees the  attack dog  isn't
successfully repelling all living  things.  Maybe I'll get  lucky  and
the owner will have the big one.  Am I uncharitable or what?)

    Reminds me of  the  beer commercial,  where the guy  tells his new
woman he lives alone, and  pays  his roommates with  some Lowenbrau to
get them out of the house when he brings her home  for  nookie.  After
all, someone's got to  do it - liars get  precious little  support  or
encouragement these days.

    Ahh, NOW we see Early lovemaking at its  finest - raw power, where
the objective is the subjugation of one's lover.

    Dunno whether that's true,  but if behavior modification  involves
murder of innocent parties, covered by deliberate and painful lies, to
maintain a relationship where at  least  one particpant intends to de-
grade and humiliate the other, I'm just as glad of my ignorance.

    I know, I'm just being an old fuddy-duddy.  This is the '80s after
all.

    Of course, it's  clear that since he  removed the self-referential
disparaging comment on liberals from his signature file, Bob Early has
reverted  to being a charming, urbane   (if rather Jungian) conformist
Yuppie like the rest of us.  So he didn't mean it and I'm tilting at a
chimera that claws me in my lover's bed, at her command.

    Of course, if he really MEANT it ...  naah, no chance.
