I didn't know who she was and spent entire class periods trying to think of ways to ask her out. I figured it would have to be something out of the ordinary. So one day, I walked upto her during the break in the 2 hour lecture and asked her if she would marry me. She said "what?" I asked once again "would you marry me". She was trying to think of what kind of a joke this could be but finally gave up and just said "no". Without batting an eyelid, I asked "so how about dinner?". She started laughing. We started talking. We did go out later and laughed about our first encounter. If you are looking to go out with somebody you don't know well, I think you need something unusual to catch this person's attention. Something humorous is best. It is best not make the other person feel pressured (a rose and a dinner invitation to someone you don't know well is not a good idea). Once you are over the initial hurdle, then you can take things as they come. Jeff
