Summary: Watch it!

It has been suggested by that Bastion of the Institution of Marriage,
Peter Korn, that I am big & stupid. Well, I may be big, but I ain't
stupid. He also suggested that I was jerk. This was, I suppose, by way
of suggesting to Pooh & Ms. Ooblick the sensei that I might be an
acceptable candidate for the Kik-Mi-Do "love 'em & dump 'em" technique.
Knowing them as I do (I was in New Jersey two weeks ago), I don't think
so. After all, Pooh said that the successful candidate would just
*look* like me. For those that aspire to this, I'm 6' 1", 160 lbs.,
with short light-brown hair, hazel eyes, a mustache, and a nordic cast
to my facial features.

I suspect that Peter thought I would not notice these remarks, since I
don't normally read this newsgroup. Fortunately, one of my spies from
within the backbone cabal notified me of the fact that my name was
being dragged through the mud in a newsgroup that was widely read.
Naturally, I took the time to root this out. I read every article in
{net,soc}.singles that was on ucbvax today. Currently, we keep the last
30 days worth. That was over 700 articles, folks...

(well, actually, I didn't read them *all*; I use NNTP based rn, and I'm
not afraid to hit the ol' k key on discussions that begin to bore me.
You folks sure beat the hell out of a lot of dead horses: rape, the
Attorney General's Commission on pornography, oral sex, the virtues [or
lack thereof] of virgins, even Lifestyles of the Big & Stupid. [Hey,
Grizz, do you ever show at USENIX Conferences? It might be interesting
to meet you sometime]).

I am now of the opinion, should anyone else in the backbone cabal ask,
that this newsgroup is worth keeping around and should not be moderated,
despite the high volume. I will certainly continue to carry it on
ucbvax and the other systems where I have influence (Gene Ward Smith
doubtless heaves a sigh of relief at this point).

Peter, my motto is simple: "Don't get mad, get even." I suggest that
you start looking over your shoulder more often...
