If the experts in the field think this would be a fruitful course to follow, let them. I have already given my reasons for disbelieving the spare parts scenario, so I have no problems with letting the research continue. I worry when non-experts try to tell experts how to conduct their experiments. Trying to regulate your nieghbors so they must abide by your religionous convictions, now that's repulsive.
