There's nothing to be ashamed of, Ed.  One can argue that conservatism
is the rational position of anyone with the humility to perceive themselves
to be a little dim.  Change has to be coped with, and that can be difficult.
The clever and the ruthless have an unfair advantage in times of change.
Orthodoxy is a great equalizer.  And this at least as true in China and the
Soviet Union today as it is in the U.S.
