One who does not, is not. I think most Christians would disagree with (as is evident in the statistics you offered), just as the tradition of the Church tends to disagree with you. The debates and decisions of the early Councils were trying to get at this very question, and they did not find it as simple and straightforward as you--they wound up formulating a subtle and complicated statement where they affirm that believing "Jesus Christ is God" is not enough.
