I just got literature in the mail from Racal-Vadic regarding their
9600 baud modem for dialup lines.  Price is only $1200 for educational
institutions!  This is the 9600vp.  Anyone know if these really exist,
and if they work ok?  They include lots of nice features even at
that low price, like speed conversion (the computer sees 9600
no matter what rate the modem is seeing), 300/1200 standard protocols
as well as 9600 (with fallbacks to 7200 and 4800), dialing, non-volatile
memory of 16 names and addresses, complete option control from the
keyboard (no dip switches).
