When fall came around she would dig them up and hang them in the basement bare-rooted. They would remain dormant until spring when she replanted them, providing a hearty supply of water. Bear in mind that the basement was in an old farm house and was more of a root cellar (read cold). A garage would probably be just as good. Julie Funk hpisla!funk
