Summary: ram: contributes to ram fragmentation

Use of ram: causes a lot of fragmentation to take place (true in versions
previous to 1.2 gamma 1 - unknown yet if gamma 1 also does this). Although
I don't intend this message as a plug...this was one of the reasons we (ASDG)
wrote our recoverable ram disk driver.
