I have no info on Atari's direct-connect modem, but just wanted to remind you
that Nite Lite Systems of Billerica, MA (of Nite Lite BBS software package
fame) offers a modified Avatex modem with an Atari direct connect interface as
well as the standard RS-232 interface.  I think the price is around $140 to
150, but you would have to talk to the proprietor, Paul Swanson to get a firm
