They may have shifted forward some dealer Christmas purchases from the (current) quarter. The IIgs is generating traffic, but has a production problem with one of the custom chips, presumably involving Apple IIe emulation. FY 1986 is $1.9 billion in sales -- a flat performance considered good, given the slump. Profit went from $61 million to $154 million. The Sculley reorganization (leading to Mr. Jobs' retirement) is credited with the improved profitability, despite major investments. Cash on hand is $576 million, up $240 million, despite $128 m R&D expenditures. The Mac is now Apple's strongest-selling PC, passing the IIe and IIc. -- Joel West MCI Mail: 282-8879 Western Software Technology, POB 2733, Vista, CA 92083 {cbosgd, ihnp4, pyramid, sdcsvax, ucla-cs} !gould9!joel joel%gould9.uucp@NOSC.ARPA
