I borrowed a copy of HDBackup from a friend with the idea that if it worked I'd buy it. I was not impressed. It tried to initialize the first disk, and failed. No big deal, except that it then froze the cursor. I could imagine that happening on disk 12 of a 14 disk backup. So I bagged that. I then dug up about 4 different PD backup programs. Only one of the four, MacDump, could I get to work at all. And it was painfully un-mac-like, and seemed to have no prevision for full restore... And it didn't init diskettes at all! -- Also -- In the process of backing up the crucial 5M by hand, I managed to get into a situation where the finder said for several files "The file could not be written and was skipped" and then said "The directory of is full." Directory full?? On an HFS Disk? None of the folders had more than 20 files in them. And I thought the whole point of HFS was that each folder had its own directory! The finder exhibited the same behavior with two different floppies, so it wasn't the floppies' fault... -- Questions -- What backup schemes have people had good luck with? Should I just go with HDBackup and format all my disks before I start the backup? Is there good PD software available? What's up with HFS directories? Thanks In Advance for any answers...
