Highly recommended:  Jon Bentley's "Programming Pearls" column in the
September CACM.  This one actually isn't about programming at all, it's
about document design, i.e. how to make documents clear and readable.
Do-it-yourself typesetting has turned a lot of programmers into amateur
typesetters.  Unfortunately, a lot of the resulting documents really are,
well, amateurish.  Bentley offers some basic hints on how to do better.
