Some time ago I reported that our site was running IX/370 and that
there were some problems with uucp at 9600 baud. Since then our IBM
system people tell me that those problems are an artifact of our
communications link.

In any case, you should be able to run uucp over modems at low speed
(2400 or less) without problems. I don't know if news would run on
IX/370 for other reasons, but see no reason why it wouldn't.
