Dr. Peter Forsyth of Dynamic Reservoir Systems, Cal- gary, Alberta will speak on ``Recent Developments in Iterative Solution of Sparse Matrices''. TIME: 3:30 PM ROOM: MC 6082 ABSTRACT Preconditioned conjugate gradient methods have recently become the preferred method for interative solution of large sparse systems. This seminar will focus on incomplete LU (ILU) preconditionings for sparse systems with arbitrary connectivity, with application to the non-symmetric, non-diagonally dominant matrices typical of oil reservoir simulation. Some practical considera- tions such as applications on supercomputers (including some run times on the CRAY) will also be discussed.
