Dyer Computer Consulting, Cambridge MA Lines: 26 Summary: save it for talk.med fella Walt Stoll's disappearance from the net last year was welcome relief after months of having to listen to him giving the word 'holistic' a worse name than it already has in these circles, armed with hard scientific evidence like the covers of Newsweek, personal testimonials and heretofore unrecognized physiologies: I can't decide whether I preferred his bit about spinal fluid extending out along the peripheral nerves, or his revisionist postings on dentistry and the structure of teeth. It was a real low point in net.med then, and the group very nearly became another net.abortion or net.origins, with the as-yet-undisgusted rationalists arguing with the crackpot. Finally, a number of us were able to convince people to simply ignore him; outside the spot light of controversy, he quickly disappeared to devote his time to his practice, and net.med regained a bit of its usefulness as a place for a discussion of medical issues, always grounded in the basic sciences. For myself, I don't welcome Stoll's return to the net based on our earlier experience when he was active here. I would recommend another dose of restraint on our part to make his visit as quick and painless as possible. In other words, don't get into a pissing contest with him; there'll be chance enough later to correct any misinformation he might spread.
