Lines: 26 Keywords: modem tip uucp hayes Xref: mnetor comp.dcom.modems:16 misc.wanted:211 The Question: Looking for a good, cheap, 103/212A 1200 baud modem. Background: About 18 months ago, I purchased a SmartTeam (Hayes clone) modem. It works fine on a terminal. Now that it's connected to my new home Unix system, it shows a flaw; it gets confused (somehow) when uploading files from the home system to a another machine. A borrowed Hayes works fine. So, I am looking for a new modem, and suggestions about same from you, gentle net reader. The Qualification: The modem must handle tip (including ~p and ~t commands), uucp handshaking, and of course have a dialer option included in the "normal" 4.2BSD uucp. It should have soft selectable autoanswer with programmable ring count. A good Hayes clone does all this, I hope other modems do too. I would like to hear from you if you know of a modem that does ALL the above, or if you are sure a particular modem does NOT do all the above. I will post the results of this survey to comp.dcom.modems, with a followup after I buy a new modem and check it out. Thanks; -- Keith Lofstrom MS 59-316, Tektronix, PO 500, Beaverton OR 97077 (503)-627-4052
