There are two mailing lists for the discussion of the X window system: xpert@athena.mit.edu and xport@athena.mit.edu Xpert discusses programming under the X window system, while Xport discusses porting the window system to new hardware; Xpert is far more active than Xport. To have yourself added to one, send mail to xpert-request@athena.mit.edu and xport-request@athena.mit.edu respectively. (Please don't mail to the lists - you'll just bug a few hundred people and get back a polite flame from me saying "you shouldn't have done that"). Requests for information about the X window system should go to xrequest@athena.mit.edu rather than one of the mailing list adminstration addresses. As Richard said, distributions are available from the Microcomputer center here for a nominal copying fee. I believe that they also handle requests for documentation as well.
