I down loaded a very long game file but since it was to big for my machine's buffer and direct to disc always gives errors, I split it into two files and downloaded each seperately (I'm talking hexadecimal file stuff). I never did figure out how to put the files together using DOS 2.5 but with DOS 3.0 it worked, sort of. Unfortunately now I have a very long hex file with a line right in the middle which says $ (that's a system prompt and then probably a line feed). When I convert the file, it starts up fine but the screen goes back to the startup before one can play (It's the game like concentration). I suspect my problem is that spurious line feed (In fact I'm amazed that it didn't cause the whole thing to bomb). I'm using an 800XL and standard atari disc drives. The modem is a smart modem, if that makes any difference. My first question is how do I edit the big file to get rid of that "$"? My second question is how could I have joined the two files using DOS 2.5? Helpful hints much appreciated.
