Regarding the ROM patch for faster disk I/O: David Small, designer of the Magic
Sac Macintosh emulator cartridge, recently posted a warning to CompuServe's
Atari16 Forum.  He mentioned that he had examined the patch and believed it
would damage (or could possible damage) a user's disk drives and/or disks.  I
don't remember all the other information except that he _strongly_ recommended
avoiding the patch.  Contact him for more information.
